Bringing Christmas 2007 to an end!! Part 2

These Pictures were at Ken and Kathys on Monday. The kids had a blast playing with Sean and Megan. Megan did Kaylie makeup, and now Kaylie thinks we need to get glitter makeup for our house. I have to disagree, the makeup that she got from Great Granma is enough. What a great feeling to know that Christmas is finally over...And we can start thinking about next year...UMMMM NO I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Bringing Christmas 2007 to an end!!

On January 20th and the 21st we went to Denver to have Christmas with Great Granma and Uncle Mike, and then on Monday we went to Ken and Kathys for Christmas with Great Grandpa..It was a great weekend, and we are all glad Christmas 2007 is over.

First full week of January

Nothing much new at our house. I managed to spread my germs to my whole family. Kaylie had a breff touch of the flu sunday night. Chance had it Tuesday night and Wednesday and Clay had it Thursday. That is enough, hopefully we don't come in contact with the flu bug again. And we can continue our New Year healthy.
Both kids are back in school again, and happy to be back.

Last weekend we were able to get the Trampoline up that the kids got from Grandma and Grandpa Lotspeich. They love being able to go outside and jump. We have had really nice almost spring like weather. Our snow that we did have is going quick. I talked to my mom and dad thismorning, and they got another 3 feet of snow this week. The Divison of Wildlife has started feeding the deer and elk over there because they have so much snow the animals can't find food.

FYI If you are looking for a good book to read, read Simon Says by Kathryn Eastburn. It is about the murder of 3 Guffey Colorado residences in 2001. Our dear friend Leonard Post was a investigator in the murder and is in the book alot. Good readings.

New Years Eve Continued

The Monarch Ski Area has a New Years celebration each year with a Torch Light Parade down the slope, followed by Fireworks. We went and watched, thankfully weather and roads were a heck of alot better this time. Watched the torch light, and the fireworks and went home to eat dinner, and relax and wait for the New Year. Of course none of us made it to Midnight, but it was still a good day!

Blurry but the Torch Light Parade
On New Years Day, we had a relaxing day. Dad and Clay and the kids went to town to print some picture and mom and I stayed home. We were going to get the turkey in the oven and get some things done for dinner. Well I came down with the stomach flu, and wasn't much help. I was able to eat a little bit of turkey, but didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I just laid around all day. Wednesday we headed home. We were suppost to stop in Denver to have Christmas with my Grandma, and Aunt and Uncle and Grandpa, but since I was sick we decided it would be best if we just went home, and not spread the germs. We made it home around 4 that afternoon, and boy was it good to be home. Nothing like sleeping in your own bed.

New Years Eve

With all the snow and blowing from the night before, the driveway at mom and dad was just about blown shut. Dad had to go to work the morning, and so did mom, so Clay got up and started blowing snow so for one, mom could get out and for two dad being sick and having to work all day probably wasn't looking foward to coming home to work somemore. Clay and I worked outside all morning blowing and sholving snow. But we got it done. And boy was dad happy when he had gotten home at afternoon. Glad we were there to help out for ya!!!!

December 30th 2007

Well as I said in the last post, I would post more about the weekend while were over at my mom and dad..I just had to load pictures from my phone to the computer to do that. So, on Sunday we decided we were going to go to Salida to go swimming. We had a blast swimming the warm water. We went to eat at a really good restaurant in Salida, and then hit the Wal-Mart before we ventured home. While we were swimming, my dad, who had stayed home because he had a head cold, had called mom and told her that it was a blizzard at home, and to just be careful when we headed home. As we were leaving Salida at about 8:30pm, it had just stared to snow light flakes there, but as we headed up Monarch the snow was getting heavier and the wind was blowing something fierce. At times it was snowing and blowing so hard Clay had a hard time seeing. As we went around one corner, we noticed that the big slide, and slide and was blocking the West bound lanes of the pass. So I called dispatch and let them know about it and they were going to let CDOT know. We continued and go to the top of Monarch, and there we sat. About 4 cars and a semi and us. It was snowing and blowing so hard at times we couldn't see the car lights in front of us. We were able to call dad and let him know where we were at, and we would keep him posted when we heading down the hill. Thanks to the latest technology, I was able to get on the internet via my phone and check the CDOT website to see if the road was closed or what was going on. After sitting there for about 35 minutes I checked the internet again, and they had closed Monarch Pass because of weather conditions. The snow plows just couldn't keep up with the snow and blowing and that is why we weren't able to go home. But at about 9:00 we did finally see vehicles come up the pass, and thought soon it would be our turn to continue the last 15 miles of our venture. We sat and sat and sat. Finally about 9:35 we were starting to move again. The tow truck and snow plow lead the way, and we just followed. The road was down to one lane, with about a foot of snow everywhere. But we made it back to mom and dad safely, no problems. In the 20 some years that I lived there, I can say, I have never sat on top of Monarch Pass because of snow. Something else to write down in the history book. It was an adventure, and after all it was fun.

Crazy huh!!!

After the snow plow had come up the mountain, cars continued to follow, but couldn't go anywhere.

Over the Hills and through the woods, to grandmas house we go!

On Friday December 28th we left to go to my mom and dads for Christmas/New Years. It was another great time. The road were good, and we didn't have any bad weather going over. As for the rest of the weekend, I will post later!!!!

Playing with the Rhino

Who would have known. After Chance and Clay got busy putting the Rhino together, they found that the front end of the thing was crushed. Chance said Santa's Reindeer must have sat on it when they were taking a break. So anyway, we had to go to McCook on Wednesday the 26th to get a new Rhino. And when we got home that evening we all put it together and it was in working order by that night. But the battery had to charge all night, and by thursday morning they were able to take it outside and ride it a little bit...Since we have snow on the ground it really doesn't go that well. So for now it is in the house(yippy for mom) and when the snow leaves, they can take it outside and put many many miles on it I'm sure!!

Christmas Day

After seeing what Santa brought the kids, it was time to open gifts for everyone. Clay's mom and dad, Dean and Sharon, got a kick out of watching the kids, and having so much fun. It was nice to be able to stay home this year and the kids got to play with everything they got right away. Usually we are traveling, and it had to put everything together and try to get it all back in the pickup to travel home. But we didn't have that worry this year!!! Hopefully we can have many more years of staying home and waiting Santa's arival!!

Christmas Morning

Santa was very good to all of us this year. Chance got a battery powered Rhino and Kaylie got Butterscotch(FurReal Pony) They were so excited to see that he had came Christmas Morning. We even got to sleep in until 7:30. I was awake at 6am, I guess I was just so excited to see thier faces. We must have worn them out Christmas eve.
